SPRING TRAILS HAS A NEW CHAMPION …
The Magnolia Grandiflora!

10/01/05

HOUSTON, Texas - With several hundred acres of flora and fauna and miles and miles of hiking/biking paths, Spring Trails is home to an amazing array of nature and wildlife. So much nature in and of itself so close to Houston is an incredible discovery for new home buyers in Spring Trails, a master planned community located in Northwest Houston. However, in the recent past a NEW discovery was made at Spring Trails that takes the cake … it is the largest Magnolia Grandiflora, or Southern Magnolia, in Montgomery County!

This past spring, the Texas Forest Service sent experts out to Spring Trails to measure several of our magnolias to determine their qualifications for the Montgomery County Big Tree Registry … and, to our surprise our majestic beauty has beaten out the reigning champion by several points! Located off of one of the hiking paths, visitors to this magnificent Magnolia can bask in her shade, be surrounded by her perfume and admire her beauty from every angle.

Spring Trails is thrilled to have the new Southern Magnolia Champion for Montgomery County within our community and hope to have many visitors come to view her beauty throughout the year … each season brings new reasons to be amazed by her splendor! The Southern Magnolia produces amazingly fragrant creamy-white blooms, from 8 - 12 inches in diameter, encircled by dark lustrous leaves that have a truly unique Southern appeal … something that is reminiscent of the past, but enduring for the future. Once the fragrant blooms have gone after the summer months, this tree creates a brown fruit about 6 - 8 inches long with red-orange seeds … just another surprising product that gives this tree life and color through December.

Additional recreation centers and amenities, as well as two schools, are planned for the near future as the community continues to grow. Located in Conroe ISD, Spring Trails is a master plan of innovation as spacious homes peacefully coexist within heavily wooded surroundings.
