EDUCATIONAL AMENITIES …
Spring Trails gets an elementary school kids can walk to!
HOUSTON, Texas – Midway Residential is excited to announce that the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees approved the opening of the Oak Ridge Flex School in Spring Trails as an elementary school in the fall of 2007. This school was originally planned to open as an intermediate school, however the need for an elementary school in the southern area of Oak Ridge is critical to accommodate its rapid growth. Construction has already begun and progress on this project can be seen each day with the steel skeleton structure already complete! The new elementary school will be located in Spring Trails on Spring Trails Bend just past the Village of Elm Creek … which is within walking distance of the many families with school aged children in the community!
In 1886 the Conroe Public School’s first classes were opened in a one-room school constructed of rough lumber near the present community of Beach. It was called Conroe Mill School and was open each year for a five-month term. The Conroe Independent School District was created by the Commissioners Court of Montgomery County, Texas, July 12, 1892, by consolidating the twelve Common School Districts surrounding Conroe. This area covered 25 square miles. Over a hundred years later on June 22, 1992, the annexation of 7,781 acres of Magnolia Independent School District increased Conroe ISD to the current size of 348.09 square miles.
With the beginning of the 2005-2006 school year, Conroe ISD occupied 48 campuses over the 348 square miles that the District encompasses. Over the next few years, CISD will open 7 new schools, make major renovations to 3 current campuses, district-wide improvements to current facilities, and construct a sports and transportation complex. Conroe Independent School District has made major strides since 1886 with its rural beginnings to one of the fastest growing school districts in the nation. Currently, CISD has over 40,000 students and 5,100 full time employees and is projected to be home to more than 52,400 students by the year 2012.
